Jack Tenney, publisher of Business People Vermont, announced the appointment of Susan Thompson as advertising representative. In the telecom business for 20 years, she was a Sprint partner for 14 years. Before that, she worked at Computerland. She is a graduate of Champlain College Trinity College. She resides in Grand Isle with her husband, Bill, and daughter, Kristin.

Charter One Financial Inc. announced the addition of Linda Magoon as regional manager, vice president of the bank's Vermont North region. She was with Citibank, most recently in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Family Business Initiative, a program in the University of Vermont school of business since 1998, announced changes to its name and leadership. The initiative is now called the Vermont Family Business Initiative. Daniel Van Der Vliet was named director of the initiative. He was outreach coordinator for UVM continuing education.

The Howard Center for Human Services announced staff changes and additions. Lorraine Jenne was promoted from human resources director to director of operations. John Kamin, M.D., was named staff psychiatrist of the Adult Behavioral Health Services division after completing his residency in the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Program. Wendy Scanlan was promoted from assistant director/curriculum coordinator to director of the Pine Forest Children's Center, a program of the center's Baird division. Colleen Lillie has moved from supervisor of Baird's School Services Program to director of residential treatment for the Baird division. Karen Prosciak was named director of the Winooski Family Center. She was with McMan Youth, Family and Community Services in Calgary, Alberta.

Lyndonville Savings Bank announced the appointment of Nicole Pion to sales/branch manager at its Enosburg Falls branch. She has worked in several positions for the bank since 1998. Laurie Barrett was appointed manager of the Vergennes branch. She was at the Chittenden Bank. Barrett replaced Sonya Sorenson, who was promoted to business development officer/junior lender at the Vergennes branch.

Banknorth Vermont announced the promotion of Lyndsay Dunne to sales assistant for the Bancnorth Investment Planning Group in the bank's Burlington offices. She was customer service representative in the St. Albans office.

Black River Design, Architects of Montpelier announced the hiring of Pamela Smith and Heidi Davis as designer/draftspersons. Smith was with Norwich University; Davis worked with Bill Knight Inc. in Boston.

Northfield Savings Bank announced the new position of Chittenden County business lending officer and named Bruce Bernier to the position. Bernier was with Lyndonville Savings Bank.

ToniAnn Sacco Maynard has joined New England Financial as a financial representative. She was owner and manager of Premier Readers Service in New York; she had been manager of the Church Street shop Ecco in Burlington.

Colin Mackenzie was named the first Robert P. Youngman curator of Asian art and adjunct professor of art history at Middlebury College. He was associate director and curator of the Asia Society Museum in New York City.

SilverLake Wealth Management announced that Mark St. Pierre has joined the retirement plan services division as a corporate consultant. He was with Wachovia Securities Financial Network in North Carolina and Lawrence, N.J.

Shane M. Barney, MA, MPA, has joined Cope & Associates as a research analyst specializing in historical studies; research design and production; the use of technology in problem-solving; project management; and statistical analysis.

The Montpelier nonprofit, Institute for Sustainable Communities, has named Betty Weiss its Washington, D.C., representative. Weiss was ISC's community action director for the last year.

Ted Fleischer was named snowboard supervisor for the Stowe Mountain Resort Ski & Snowboard School. He replaced Jeff Wise, who was appointed marketing manager at the resort.

The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont announced its new Web site, www.vtbuilders.com. The site has a searchable database of housing professionals throughout the state.

Tim Davis, David Desautels and Cindy Kalinen have joined the Northern Vermont Financial Group of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in the Essex Junction office. Davis and Desautels are financial representatives; Kalinen is administrative assistant to the managing director and will head the client services team.

Yankee Medical announced three staff promotions at its Burlington location. Tausha Rockwood was named accounts receivable administrator. Stacy Gentile is the office/billing administrator. Mark Milia was promoted to system administrator.
