Faces&PlacesDecember 2004The Golden Eagle Resort in Stowe hired Doug Kellogg as group sales and marketing manager. He was with Sugarbush Resort. Johnson State College announced the appointment of Sharron Scott as dean of administration and Manuela Mangiafico as registrar. Scott was director of administrative information systems for the Vermont State Colleges. Mangiafico was with Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Bread Loaf Corp. in Middlebury announced the addition of Joshua Quinn as assistant project manager. Quinn was project manager and engineer with a Baltimore, Md., company. Andrea Swift was named coordinator in Bread Loaf's architectural department. Her 20 years of experience in administration includes work for Kelliher Samets Volk, Middlebury College and Mary Hogan Elementary School in Middlebury. The Vermont State Colleges announced the appointment of Dianne M. Pollak as director of administrative information systems. Pollak, who is certified by the Project Management Institute, was a project manager at IBM in Essex Junction, where she directed software development projects. She works in the VSC chancellor's office in Waterbury. Marc Sherman of Sherman Enterprises Inc. in Stowe announced the appointment of Trudy Welch of Morrisville as manager of Stowe Mercantile. Welch has been with the company for more than two years in various roles. Brennan Duffy has joined Purofirst Disaster Response of Hinesburg as estimator. His insurance experience was as business development coordinator with Infinity Property & Casualty Corp. He was also president of Over the Edge Products LLC. The Williamson Group, an independent luxury real estate brokerage in Woodstock, has joined the Sotheby's International Realty franchise network in the United States. The company will do business as Williamson Group Sotheby's International Realty. The Williamson Group is co-owned by Susan Inui-Kelley, president, and Laird Bradley, principal broker. The board of directors of Laraway Youth and Family Services announced that Greg Stefanski was appointed executive director. Stefanski has been chief financial officer for the last five years, during which the budget has tripled and the staff has doubled. He was active executive director for the last two years during the legislative session. Northeast Rural Water, a nonprofit association of water and wastewater systems in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, has hired Elizabeth Royer to develop communitywide source water protection plans, which help towns address drinking water sources within the community. Donald De Voil was named coordinator of academic services for the Community College of Vermont's Montpelier location. He was director of an environmental education center in the Swiss Alps and worked for the World Wildlife Fund in Scotland. Russell Construction Services of Rutland announced that F. Keith Stilson was named project superintendent. Stilson has more than 25 years' experience in the industry. Foster Hetherington has joined Russell as part of its business development team. Sarah Carpenter, the Vermont Housing Finance Agency's executive director, announced the hiring of Brandiann Russin as outreach coordinator. Russin was an office assistant in accounts payable at MorrisSwitzer Environments for Health in Williston. Clarion Hotel and Suites hired Bill Hackett as food and beverage manager. Hackett will manage Trader Duke's restaurant and the Clarion's banquet food service. He was director of outlets at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center. Kathleen Richards was named front office manager at the Clarion. She was property accountant at the former Radisson Burlington hotel. W. Scott Fewell has joined the litigation group of Burak Anderson & Melloni PLC. The Vermont Law School graduate comes from a two-year clerkship with the Honorable Terrence F. McVerry, a U.S. District Court judge in Pennsylvania. Jeff Boyce was hired as director of sales at the Holiday Inn Burlington. Boyce has more than 10 years' experience in the hospitality industry. The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps announced that Lisa Scott, former parks coordinator, has returned as the parks' AmeriCorps manager. Scott took a hiatus to pursue a master's degree. The VYCC parks program manages six Vermont state parks. Bruce P. Mullen of Wilmington joined New England Financial as a financial representative. He will work from a new satellite office in Wilmington. Thomas S. Leavitt, senior vice president in retail banking for Merchants Bank, announced that Helen Courtemanche, teller customer representative, was promoted to lender customer representative in the Brattleboro branch. Twincraft announced that Larry Litke, chief operating officer, has joined Peter and Richard Asch as a shareholder of Twincraft. The law firm of Sheehey Furlong & Behm PC announced that Debra L. Bouffard has joined the firm as litigation associate. The Boston College Law School graduate was a law clerk to the Vermont trial court judges in Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Gallagher, Flynn & Co. LLP announced the following additions to the firm. Joining the practice are Debralee Held and Sarah Richards, senior staff accountants; and John Sullivan and Nathan Hawley, staff accountants. Diane Boettcher is a staff accountant in the firm's tax practice. Tiana Rios has joined the information technology department as a network and user support technician. Phelps Engineering Inc. announced the addition of Jonathan Ashley, P.E., to its Middlebury staff. Ashley has 12 years of civil and environmental engineering expertise. The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and Greater Burlington Industrial Corp. announced that Jamie Balliett, government affairs director, moved to Colorado to work as a full-time writer. Mary Sprayregen was promoted to co-director of the division. Dawn Francis has joined the staff and will serve as co-director with Sprayregen. Francis served in various positions for the town of Essex for 19 years. Dr. John Van Houten, St. Michael's College professor of chemistry, was named to fill the college's first endowed chair, The Leavy Family Chair in Chemistry. Van Houten's specialty is inorganic chemistry. He has also taught some 20 lecture and lab courses in general chemistry, analytical and physical chemistry and a senior honors seminar on the environment. Joseph M. Finnigan, president and CEO of Vermont Federal Credit Union, announced that Janet S. Astore, CPA, was named controller. Astore has more than 20 years' professional experience in accounting, finance, taxation, public accounting and administration. She held various management positions at Citibank. Holly O. Sheltra has joined the staff as manager of its Burlington branch. She was with Homebound Mortgage. Northfield Savings Bank announced the hiring of financial consultant Chad Bell to work from its Williston office. Bell was with Banc of America Investment Services in North Carolina and Missouri. Donna Bohonnon was promoted to manager of the bank's Bethel branch. She was assistant manager. PayData payroll services announced the hiring of Mitch Deacon as regional sales representative for Rutland and Bennington counties. Deacon has 18 years of payroll, human resources and sales experience. Gordon Sadler has joined V/T Commercial real estate business brokers in Burlington. Sadler was founder and owner of Sailworks Inc., vice president of AdventurousTraveler.com, and a past board member of the Lake Champlain Land Trust. He has real estate development experience. The Burlington-based family newspaper Kids VT has hired Susan Dodge May as Rutland area advertising representative and area coordinator. JC Image Inc., a national provider of embroidered and screen-printed apparel and promotional products, has moved into an 11,000-square-foot, five-acre production facility at 88 Walnut St., St. Albans, a former Agway site. Century 21 Advantage announced the addition of Julie Lockerby and Coleen McBournie to its team. Jack Bliss, president and CEO of Corporate Outfitters, announced the hiring of Rhonda Justice as a marketing and sales representative. She was with Chittenden Bank for several years. Robert J. Foley has joined the Paul Frank & Collins real estate practice as an associate. Foley was with a Boston law firm, where he specialized in real estate. Dale Carnegie Training hired Sarah Jo Willey as a training consultant at its Essex office. Willey's experience includes teaching marketing education at the high school level and several years with an association of marketing students. Lang Associates announced the addition of Story Jenks to its team of sales professionals. He was a co-owner of Dia knitwear in Middlebury. Erin Saunders was hired as a shared agent assistant at the firm. She was a marketing assistant at Champlain College. |
