Hackett Valine & MacDonald Inc. insurance agency announced the following promotions at its South Burlington office. Michael Walsh was named vice president; Lorraine Cofran was promoted to senior commercial account representative; Lauren Shangraw was promoted to senior customer service representative in the personal lines department; and Shannon Toof was promoted to associate account executive in the commercial department. John Casavant, at the agency's St. Albans office, was promoted to vice president.

Photographer Jordan Silverman, who moved his studio from Cherry Street to a 1,400-square-foot space at 266 Pine St. in Burlington, has hired Monica DiGiovanni as studio manager. DiGiovanni, a Massachusetts College of Art graduate, has 15 years' experience in business and the arts. The office phone number is 860-4668.

Fothergill Segale & Valley, Certified Public Accountants in Montpelier, announced the following advancements: Linda LaFrance was named senior accountant; Penny Bullard was named staff accountant. LaFrance has been with the firm since 1997; Bullard joined in 2003. The firm also announced the addition of Lela McCaffrey to the staff. She has more than 10 years' experience as a business manager.

David J. Provost of Shelburne was named vice president of finance and administration at Champlain College, responsible for the college's finance, human resources and physical plant. He replaces Lawrence J. Veladota, who retired from the college after 35 years of service.

Syndi L. Zook was selected as Lyric Theatre Company's executive director. Zook worked in elder services in the Burlington community for 23 years, including 18 years as executive director of the Champlain Senior Center. Since 1989, she has been co-owner and director of The Open Stage children's drama program of the Burlington Department of Parks and Recreation.

Vermont Panurgy Corp. hired Dawna Majher as director of the company's corporate professional center. Majher is a senior software and training instructor and was the first Macromedia-certified developer in Vermont.

Jamie Gagne, formerly of Spruce Mortgage Inc., has joined Hampton Direct, an importing and distribution firm in Williston, as a merchandising coordinator. Gagne holds a bachelor's degree in business from Champlain College. Also joining Hampton Direct is Brent Mahan as accounting/financial/inventory assistant. Mahan was with Radio Shack; he holds an associate of accounting from Champlain College.

Trane, a provider of indoor comfort systems and facility solutions, announced that William Willows has joined the New York­Vermont territory as account manager. The Andover College grad was with ABB Inc.

John Davis & Associates, CPAs, announced the admission of a new partner, Bret Hodgdon, CPA, to lead the audit and accounting department. He has been with the firm since 1998.

Yankee Medical announced three additions to its staff. Jessie Watkins joined the company in the HME services department. Ted Eisenbeis, Certified Orthotist, joined the Lebanon, N.H., office. Stephanie Broomfield was hired at the St. Albans branch office in the administration and billing department.

Green Mountain Network Technology LLC has changed its name to Enzes Inc. The company said the move is part of a series of changes designed to foster the company's growth in information technology sales and service in central and northern Vermont. Its offices are in Waterbury.

Lang Associates announced the addition of Blake Lahue as an assistant to Mike Souza. The South Burlington resident was in retail sales before he joined the firm.

Christopher Loso, a South Burlington native, recently left the Washington, D.C., management consulting firm Touchstone Consulting to help with the operations and management of Loso's Professional Janitorial Services. The son of Harry Loso, he will serve as a manager, working with ongoing operations and related expansion efforts for the company.

Kelliher Samets Volk marketing communications firm announced the hiring of three communications professionals. Chris O'Leary is a media buyer. He was a media planner at Foote Cone & Belding in New York City. Colleen Loeffler is a traffic manager. She was a client services representative at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. Melissa Boccio is a traffic manager. She was the production manager for Christensen Design in Burlington.

Century 21 Advantage welcomed Bill Stilianessis to its sales team. The Bristol resident has a background in community service as a volunteer firefighter and a member of the Bristol Rescue Squad.

Champlain College has hired information security expert Gary Kessler to direct its new information security degree program. The program is set to launch in the fall, offering a bachelor's degree and a seven-course professional certificate. Online classes will also be offered in the subject.

Mildred Reardon, M.D., associate dean for primary care at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, announced that Elizabeth Cote was named director of its Vermont Area Health Education Centers program office. Cote was director of education for Panurgy Corporate Education Center in Burlington.

Bartlett Frisbie, president of Sterling Construction Inc., announced the hiring of Collin Frisbie as field manager, Ken Robertson as construction superintendent and Lau Almeida as administrative assistant. They will work on building homes at Boulder Hill in Shelburne.

Vermont Development Credit Union has changed its name to Opportunities Credit Union to more closely reflect its mission of providing fair and affordable capital and financial services to low-income and financially underserved Vermonters. The name change is part of the credit union's strategic plan, supported by a Ford Foundation grant, to bring its services statewide to within an hour's drive of all who need them.

Jean Lynch, manager of KeyBank's Taft Corners branch, was named local relationship manager of Key4Women, a new KeyBank program created to serve women-owned businesses in Vermont. Lynch has been with the bank since 2004.

Re/Max North Professional of Colchester announced the addition of three real estate agents with the Gracey Conroy group: Sheila Jacobs, Betsy Francklyn and Jacqui Beauchesne. Jacobs was manager of the Northwestern Vermont Board of Realtors statewide Multiple Listing Service. Francklyn was with Lang Associates and The Snyder Companies. Beauchesne owned commercial real estate and a business in Maine.

Chittenden announced that Diana Brown was promoted to assistant manager at its Wilmington office. Brown joined Vermont National Bank in 1969, remaining when Vermont National merged with Chittenden in 2000.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. announced that Daniel R. Martin, vice president of sales and marketing, has accepted the position of president and chief executive officer for the North American business of R. Twining & Co.

Joseph D. Lisaius, president of Lisaius Marketing, announced the appointment of Lindzey Draper as designer. Draper was a designer at Seven Days.

Jane O'Meara Sanders, president of Burlington College, announced several appointments at the college. Nora J. Mitchell was named interim academic dean, and Anna Blackmer was named interim assistant academic dean. They succeed Robert A. Rice, who continues as a member of the college faculty. Mitchell has been chairwoman of the general education department at the college since 2003. Blackmer has been with the college since 1987, most recently as chairwoman of the humanities department. Genese Grill was appointed writing specialist at the college. She has taught writing and literature since spring 2002 as an adjunct faculty member.

Zalinger Cameron & Lambek P.C. in Montpelier announced that Patricia K. Turley has become a shareholder of the firm and Stephen L. Cusick has joined the firm as an associate. Turley has been an associate attorney with the firm since 1999. Cusick joined the firm in August 2004 as a law clerk.

Thomas S. Leavitt, senior vice president, retail banking for Merchants Bank, announced the following staff changes. Stacie Griffiths was named branch president in Jericho. She succeeds Kelley Jordick, who was named branch president in Hinesburg. Diane L. Sullivan was appointed branch president of Burlington's North Avenue branch. She succeeds Christine Auriemma, who has assumed leadership of the White Street, South Burlington, branch. Charman Salls, teller customer representative, was promoted to lender customer representative. Patricia Lemay, teller customer representative, was promoted to lender customer representative. Salls and Lemay work at the Hardwick branch.

Peter Nazarenko, owner of Planet Hardwood flooring company, announced his company's move to an 18,000-square-foot facility on Vermont 2A in St. George. The phone number is 482-4404.

The International Center for Captive Insurance Education announced it has moved its offices to 84 Pine St., Suite 300, Burlington. The phone number if 651-9050; fax number is 651-6851.

Charles Summers Jr., a former state senator from Maine, was appointed regional administrator in Region I to oversee the U.S. Small Business Administration's programs and services in New England. Summers is also a public affairs officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Banknorth Vermont announced the promotion of Patrick Reeves to customer service representative II in Stowe. Reeves, who has been with the bank since 2003, maintains an insurance license. He can also offer insurance products through Bancnorth Investment Group Inc. Bancnorth Investment Group, located at Banknorth Vermont, and its president, Anne Dunne, announced the addition of Kelly Paton as registered representative. Paton is based in Brattleboro and covers the Brattleboro, Bellows Falls, Chester, Quechee and Woodstock areas. He holds his NASD Series 7 and 66 securities registration.

Robert D. Demont, president of Demont & Associates Inc., announced that Raelene Mattor was promoted to office and communications manager. She has worked at the firm since 2003 as production administrator.

Dawn Terrill, secretary of the Vermont Agency of Transportation, announced that Nancy Rowden Brock was appointed director of finance and administration. Brock was a business and financial consultant.

Mark P. McGreevy has been hired as a field casualty claims adjuster for Vermont Mutual Insurance Group. He was a senior resident adjuster with Hanover/Allmerica Financial.

Bread Loaf Corp. architects, planners and builders of Middlebury announced the addition of Frederick Bellucci as senior estimator. Bellucci was with a Beltsville, Md., firm.

Phil Pouech of Hinesburg has joined the wind energy manufacturing company NRG Systems Inc. as production manager. He was a program quality manager at General Dynamics in Burlington.

Charles Sydnor has joined Hampton Direct, an importing and distribution firm in Williston, as a product sourcing coordinator. He was with Bon-Ton department stores in Pennsylvania.
