Chittenden Bank

Chittenden Bank is Vermont's largest full-service bank with assets of more than $3 billion, serving nearly one third of all Vermont households and many of the municipalities, businesses and non-profits in the state.

About Chittenden Bank

Chittenden Bank is Vermont's largest full-service bank with more than 50 offices and 670 employees throughout the state to serve its consumer, small business and corporate business clients.

Originally chartered in 1904 as the Chittenden County Trust Company, Chittenden is proud to now count one out of three Vermont households as customers. With assets of over $3 billion, Chittenden serves the banking needs of many towns and cities in the state, in addition to small businesses, for-profit and non-profit organizations, endowment funds, and captive insurance companies.

Areas of focus for Chittenden include commercial banking, business services, insurance services, consumer banking, wealth management and mortgage services. Specialty financial services include retail brokerage, automotive financing, merchant credit card processing, captive insurance services, commercial payroll processing and the management of retirement plans.

Vermont’s largest business bank has been very active in lending to small businesses and has worked extensively with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide critical financial support to these small businesses. Chittenden’s activities with the SBA has earned it the designation of "Preferred Lender" for over 20 years, a status which allows lenders to approve SBA guaranteed loans without the prior approval of that agency.

Chittenden has consistently earned an "Outstanding" rating for its Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) performance, an accomplishment achieved by only a small percentage of banks nationwide. "Outstanding" is the top rating a bank can receive, and it means that Chittenden has done a superior job in meeting the credit and lending needs of local communities. As a state chartered bank with a continued, long-term focus on the state, Chittenden takes pride in its commitment and its service to the people, the businesses and the institutions of Vermont.

Chittenden is a subsidiary of People’s United Bank, a regional financial services company with assets of over $21 billion operating throughout New England.

Community Development Services

As Vermont's largest provider of financial services, it is our desire to be a strong partner in the communities where we live and work. Chittenden is able to offer meaningful programs that are supportive of the many community organizations throughout the state. Community Services at Chittenden Bank incorporates the following:
